1. 用于食品工業。賴氨酸是蛋白質的重要組分之一，是人體不能自身合成但又十分需要的八種氨基酸之一，是一種優良的食品強化劑。因食物中缺乏賴氨酸，所以又稱“第一必需氨基酸”。將賴氨酸添加到飲品、大米、面粉、罐頭等食品中可以提高蛋白質的利用率，從而大大強化食品的營養，起到促進生長發育、增加食欲、減少疾病、增強體質的作用，用于罐頭中有除臭保鮮的作用。
2. 用于醫藥工業。賴氨酸可用于配制復合氨基酸輸液，它比水解蛋白輸液效果好，副作用少。賴氨酸可與各種維生素、葡萄糖制成營養補劑，口服后易被胃腸吸收。賴氨酸還可改善某些藥物的性能，提高藥效。
